Beginning of Guqin research in year 2000, here is Cui Hui Xin, at Chen ChangLin's home playing the guqin. On the foreground is a large hand made guqin for her. The idea of home made DIY qin from recycled particle boards is the innovative idea of Prof Chen.
He said, a classic guqin is v expensive, a home made one only cost 50rmb, and fingering and sounds are fine. The strings are hard to buy, but if found, only 50rmb for a set of metal string. So for 100rmb, its totally affordable. And if the child or learner really likes this, they could buy a classic one.
He had a traveling small version for himself.
